Building a 1,000 m² net house
From site choice and footings to the frame, netting and double door – plus common mistakes.
Updated:

A good net house is the foundation for every IoT system that follows. This guide is for owners who want to supervise a contractor or build with a local crew. Market reference costs for net and film houses run about 150,000–350,000 ₫/m² depending on size and materials.
Main materials
- Galvanised steel tube Ø60 (columns), Ø42 (trusses), Ø27 (bracing)
- UV-stabilised 50-mesh insect net
- Wiggle wire, lock channel, footing concrete
Steps
- 1
Choose and level the site
Pick high, flood-free ground near water and power. Level with a 0.5–1% slope to drains. Orient bays north–south for even light.
- 2
Set out and pour footings
String out the column grid (often 4 × 8 m). Dig 40 × 40 × 60 cm holes, pour grade-200 concrete, set columns or anchor bolts.
- 3
Raise the frame
Fit columns, trusses, purlins and diagonal bracing at the gables and centre. Check plumb with a level before tightening.
- 4
Stretch netting and fit doors
Stretch net on a calm morning and lock it into the channel. Fit a double-door airlock so insects don't follow workers in.
- 5
Prepare for IoT
Leave buried conduit to the control cabinet, a 4–6 m gateway mast and a bracket for the climate station mid-house.
Tips from NG engineers
- • Don't skimp on footings: monsoon winds can lift whole bays.
- • Over-dense net overheats the house – 50 mesh balances well for greens.
