IoT net house for leafy greens

Ideal for

  • Farms and co-ops growing greens on 500 m²+
  • Suppliers to supermarkets and canteens

Problems solved

  • Pests and heavy rain damage crops
  • Irrigation by guesswork wastes water and labour
  • Hard to prove produce is clean when selling wholesale

How it's built

  1. 1

    Survey and design

Measure terrain, wind, water and power; choose span and height; draw irrigation zones.

  2. 2

    Levelling and footings

Level the ground with 0.5–1% drainage slope; pour column footings per drawing.

  3. 3

    Raise frame, stretch netting

Fit columns, trusses and bracing; stretch 50-mesh net with wiggle wire; fit the double door.

  4. 4

    Irrigation and misting

Lay main and zone lines; install solenoid valves and nozzles; pressure-test.

  5. 5

    Install IoT

Mount the gateway high, place soil probes in representative root zones, set the climate station at canopy height, wire the cabinet.

  6. 6

    Configure and commission

Register devices, draw plots in NG Farm, set thresholds; run 7 days alongside manual irrigation.

Rollout plan

  1. Week 1–2

    Survey, final quote

Sign an NDA if needed, survey on site, finalise design.

  2. Week 3–6

    Build structure

    Footings, frame, netting, irrigation.

  3. Week 7

    Install and configure IoT

    Devices, software, automation rules.

  4. Week 8

    Training and handover

Operator training, acceptance against evaluation criteria.

Evaluation and acceptance

Criteria are written into the contract and measured with real data in NG Farm.

FAQ

How is a net house different from a greenhouse?

A net house only uses insect netting – airy, cheaper, ideal for greens. A greenhouse uses PE film against rain with better climate control – for melons and tomatoes.

Does irrigation work without internet?

Yes. The gateway runs rules locally and buffers data, syncing when the connection returns.
